Reiki is a Japanese healing technique.
Rei means "Universal" and Ki means "Energy". The healing energy comes from the universe, it funnels through the practitioner who acts as a conduit so the healing energy can flow into the recipient. Reiki can be very powerful or it can be very subtle. Try a treatment and find out for your self!

A couple more little nuggets of wisdom are that research indicates that massage boosts the immune system by increasing your body’s number of lymphocytes (white blood cells) that play a large role in defending the body from disease. Massage can also lower feelings of anxiety. It can improve mood and relaxation while increasing confidence and self-image. If you experience depression or anxiety, or are just overloaded with extra stress, massage can be an effective part of treatment.

This can depend on the persons needs and/or the tension, pain or injuries. When you go for your initial massage, your therapist should have you fill out an in depth health history form along with your pain and/or tension levels. This can help the therapist formulate a treatment plan that best fits your individual needs. If there is a severe injury it could be at least once a week for 6 months, depending on the treatment plan. If its just for tension relief then maybe a couple times a month. It all depends on the individual and they're exact needs. One can still get massage once a week if that is what they desire. Although there are contraindications to massage, which is something you would go over with your therapist during the health history assessment. Massage is generally good for most people.
A Reiki treatment usually lasts around 24 hours, some have experienced longer results. Reiki can work with the body and soul ever so subtle or it can be a deep and profound healing experience.
